Extracting pectin with apple peel

(1) Raw material pulverization and washing: The apple peel is crushed, sieved with a sieve having a pore size of 2 to 3 mm, and then washed with hot water at 60° C. to remove impurities, and then sprinkled with ethanol and dried.
(2) Hydrolysis extraction: Add water to the dried raw material (generally water is 15 times the mass of the raw material), adjust the pH of the aqueous solution with hydrochloric acid to 1.6-6.3, heat to 75°C, keep at constant temperature for 1 hour, and hold for 18 hours. The raw material glue is hydrolyzed into pectin, dissolved in solution, and then filtered to obtain a transparent solution. The filter residue was further added with 5 times the mass of the hydrochloric acid solution (the pH was the same as the first hydrolysis) and kept at a temperature of 95° C. for 15 minutes. The juice was then squeezed and the two liquids were combined and filtered.
(3) Precipitation: In the hydrolysis filtrate, 40% aluminum trichloride of raw material mass is added, and the temperature is kept at 40°C. While stirring, 2 mol/l sodium hydroxide solution is added, and the pH is adjusted to 4 to make pectin. Aluminum precipitated.
(4) Dissolve after washing and acidification: The precipitated pectin aluminum is washed several times with hot water of 70-80°C to remove water-soluble impurities, and pectin aluminum is dissolved with dilute hydrochloric acid.
(5) Re-precipitation: Ethanol solution was added to the solution, pectin was precipitated again, and ethanol was recovered after filtration. The precipitate was washed with ethanol several times.
(6) Drying: Vacuum drying is performed at a temperature of 70°C, and dried for about 8 hours to obtain a finished pectin product. Pure pectin is usually light yellow or brown and is high methoxy pectin.
