Duckling brooding

There are generally 3 kinds of brooding methods, namely ground breeding, online brooding and three-dimensional cage.

Ground brooding involves spreading 5-10 cm thick soft litter on the ground of a brooding house, feeding the ducklings directly on the bedding, and using underground (or aboveground) heating pipes, coal stoves, babysitter umbrellas or red lines. Light bulbs and other heating methods to increase the temperature inside the brooding house is simple, low investment, but the low utilization of the premises, and ducklings directly contact with the feces, feathers dirty, susceptible to diseases.

Online brooding refers to the setting of metal nets, plastic nets, or bamboo and wooden grid bars 30-80 cm above the ground in the brooding house, feeding the ducklings on the Internet, and the droppings from the openings of the meshes or bars onto the ground. In this way, ducklings do not come into contact with the ground, and the chances of infection are reduced. The utilization rate of premises is more than doubled than that of ground feeding, which increases labor productivity. The disadvantage of saving a large amount of litter is a one-off investment.

Three-dimensional cage culture refers to feeding ducklings in special multi-layer metal cages or bamboo cages. This kind of brooding can use buildings and heat more efficiently than plane brooding. It not only has the advantages of online brooding, but also can increase labor productivity. Disadvantages are also large investments. The current production of commercial ducks uses online brooding or three-dimensional cages, and meat-based ducks generally use ground brooding or online brooding.
