A blend of herbs for facial steam sit in a bowl

As we journey through life, our skin often reflects our inner well-being. With the skin being our largest bodily organ, it’s no wonder environmental and internal factors, such as pollution and stress, greatly influence the appearance of our skin. When counteracting the day-to-day wear and tear on our skin, it’s not often to find a self-care practice that offers an inside-out reset for the skin. Luckily, herbal facial steams are a luxurious, easy, and convenient exception to this. Herbal facial steams encompass an all-in-one aromatherapy, facial care, and sensory relaxation experience that works wonders to rejuvenate tired and dull skin.

Hot water is poured over dried facial steam herbs

Just as the name implies, facial steaming is the simple practice of enveloping steam around one’s face. The warmth and moisture from steam increase skin permeability, promoting circulation, releasing clogged pores, improving skin absorption, and even clearing sinus congestion. Better yet, incorporating wellness herbs into a steam bath allows the volatile oils from the botanical to release and penetrate the face as the steam opens up and softens the skin. The true beauty of herbal facial steams is the versatile array of botanicals that can be leaned upon to craft a personalized skincare regimen suitable for your one-of-a-kind skin.

This herbal facial steam boasts a blend of skin-loving herbs, including soothing calendula and peppermint, astringent raspberry leaf and white willow bark, and aromatic lavender and rose petals. Aside from offering a powerhouse of benefits for the face, herbal facial steaming is also a rejuvenating aromatherapy experience for the mind, body, and spirit. The next time you feel your skin desperately needs a bit of TLC, reach for this herbal facial steam blend that will leave you feeling as if you’re sipping a cup of your favorite relaxing herbal tea—but for your face!

  6. Store remaining facial steam herbal blend in a dark, cool place for 6 months – 1 year. Use up to once per week or as advised by a dermatologist.

Pro-Tips

  • If you’re interested in creating your own customized herbal facial steam blend, other skin-loving herbs to consider are chamomile, marshmallow root or leaf, aloe vera leaf, rosehips, nettle leaf, witch hazel bark, yarrow and many more!
  • You can also incorporate a few drops of essential oils into a facial steam bath, if desired. Adding more than 1-2 drops per facial bath is not recommended, as steam combined with essential oil(s) can cause irritation to the skin and mucus membranes.

Cautions

  • Using overly hot water can cause steam burns on the face. Be sure to test the temperature of the water before fully engulfing your face around the steam bath.
  • Facial steaming is not recommended for those prone to redness, rosacea, eczema, or broken capillaries. Please connect with a qualified dermatologist to determine if facial steams are appropriate for your skin’s unique needs.

Antimalarial & Antiparasitic

Antimalarial:

Antimalarial medications, also known as antimalarials, are designed to prevent or cure malaria. Such drugs may be used for some or all of the following:

Treatment of malaria in individuals with suspected or confirmed infection

Prevention of infection in individuals visiting a malaria-endemic region who have no immunity (Malaria prophylaxis)

Routine intermittent treatment of certain groups in endemic regions (Intermittent preventive therapy)

Some antimalarial agents, particularly chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, are also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus-associated arthritis.

Current practice in treating cases of malaria is based on the concept of combination therapy, since this offers several advantages, including reduced risk of treatment failure, reduced risk of developing resistance, enhanced convenience, and reduced side-effects. Prompt parasitological confirmation by microscopy, or alternatively by rapid diagnostic tests, is recommended in all patients suspected of malaria before treatment is started. Treatment solely on the basis of clinical suspicion should only be considered when a parasitological diagnosis is not accessible.

Antiparasitic:

Antiparasitics are a class of medications which are indicated for the treatment of parasitic diseases, such as those caused by helminths, amoeba, ectoparasites, parasitic fungi, and protozoa, among others. Antiparasitics target the parasitic agents of the infections by destroying them or inhibiting their growth;[4] they are usually effective against a limited number of parasites within a particular class. Antiparasitics are one of the antimicrobial drugs which include antibiotics that target bacteria, and antifungals that target fungi. They may be administered orally, intravenously or topically.

Broad-spectrum antiparasitics, analogous to broad-spectrum antibiotics for bacteria, are antiparasitic drugs with efficacy in treating a wide range of parasitic infections caused by parasites from different classes.
