Artificially induced Cistanche sprouting successfully

Today, Ma Yongqing, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Water Resources, and Northwest China Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, cooperated with relevant experts from Japan and succeeded in germinating seeds of Cistanche by artificially induced methods. It is reported that the success of the study has important implications for revealing the physiological and ecological mechanisms of Cistanche. Cistanche is a famous Chinese herbal medicine and has good nourishing and body-building effects. Therefore, it is also known as desert ginseng. The artificial cultivation technique of Cistanche deserticola is to artificially sow Cistanche deserticola seeds at the root of Haloxylon ammodendron. After two years of growth, Cistanche deserticola can be obtained. However, the cultivation of Cistanche deserticola is currently at the expense of a large number of seeds. At the invitation of the Utsunomiya University Wild Plant Research Center, Ma Yongqing conducted a six-year cooperative study at the center from April to September this year. After arriving in Japan, Ma Yongqing actively carried out research work and finally induced seed germination of Cistanche by artificial induction.
