Korea developed a treatable diabetic lettuce

The research group of Gyeongsang University, located in Jeonju City, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, cooperated with the professor group of Jeonju University of Technology to develop a lettuce that can treat diabetes and stroke. Common lettuce does not contain components that can dissolve thrombi. This time, the lettuce was successfully developed by injecting thrombolytic genes (aka BB-kinase) into the lettuce from Bacillus subtilis, a thrombolytic microorganism, to cultivate new vegetables. It is reported that the research team developed the lettuce and started clinical trials in 2003. It is planned to enter commercial use in 2006. The number of people suffering from cerebrovascular diseases in modern society is increasing, and medicines for treating such diseases are expensive, and some have side effects. The lettuce can prevent many adult diseases and can also overcome the shortcomings in this respect.
