Rapid adoption of embryonic biotechnology to breed high-yielding dairy cows through acceptance

The agricultural science and technology achievement transformation project undertaken by the Institute of Animal Husbandry of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences “Using Embryonic Biotechnology to Rapidly Breed High-yielding Dairy Cows and Its Industrialization Development”, after two years of implementation, completed various technical and economic indicators stipulated in the project contract. Accepted by experts from the Department of Science and Education of the Ministry of Agriculture. During the implementation of the project, the thoroughbred cows ranked 578 times in the first row and 568 eggs in the first round. The effective rate of superovulation was 98.2% (568/578). 3990 embryos were available, and the number of embryos was 7.0. The number of transplanted cows was 3,500, and 1586 were pregnancy. The pregnancy rate was 45.3%. More than 700 embryos were transferred to embryos. At the same time, a simple and rapid PCR amplification technique for identifying the sex of bovine preimplantation embryos was successfully developed. This technology uses specific primers independently designed and synthesized to improve the traditional three-temperature gradient PCR amplification method to a two-temperature gradient method with an accuracy of 100% and shorten the time required for identification to 40 minutes. Through the combination with the enterprise, the promotion and application of the embryo transfer technology for dairy cows was carried out. The results show that the use of embryo transfer technology can increase the average cow's milk 2000 kg per lactation. During the implementation of the project, the cumulative increase of more than 7 million yuan, significant social and economic benefits. At the same time, a number of dairy cattle embryo transplantation experimental bases have been established, and more than 100 primary embryo transfer technicians have been trained. This has played an important role in increasing the number of elite dairy cows in China and even promoting the development of the entire dairy industry.
