Autumn raising rabbit 5 points

1. Ensure successful autumn breeding by focusing on proper nutrition and careful care of the animals. This helps male rabbits adapt to the environment and build up their physical strength for the breeding season. Male rabbits should be 7–8 months old, while females should be at least 6 months old. The initial weight should be no less than 3.5 kg. Female rabbits typically reach peak fertility in late autumn, with a mating success rate between 70% and 80%, and an average litter size of 5–7 kits.

2. Prepare a balanced feed formulation that includes plenty of palatable green feeds and some high-protein roughage. The formulated feed should contain sufficient crude fiber to support normal physiological functions, digestion, and nutrient absorption in rabbits. Make full use of locally available, nutritious, and cost-effective feed sources, especially protein-rich ingredients like barnyard grass and eucalyptus leaf meal. Be cautious: avoid feeding any toxic green feeds such as detoxified grass or cotton leaves. Moldy feeds must be strictly avoided, and feeds high in oxalates, like carrots, should be used in moderation.

3. Implement meticulous management practices to prevent common diseases such as colds, pneumonia, enteritis, and pasteurellosis. In cooler weather, keep doors and windows closed and limit outdoor activities. If using open-air rabbit houses, cover them with plastic shelters to maintain warmth. Disinfect the rabbit house weekly with 3% caustic soda or 10% lime water. Regularly clean the feces to ensure a clean and hygienic living environment for the rabbits.

4. Properly store feed supplies for the winter season. Stock up on items like carrots, eucalyptus leaves, sweet potato vines, bean stalks, peanut vines, and valerian to ensure a steady food supply during colder months.

5. Focus on disease prevention. Vaccinate rabbits against Pasteurella and Clostridium perfringens. Administer a 1 ml subcutaneous injection monthly or three times a year. During outbreaks of coccidiosis, include anticoccidial drugs like chlorophenyl hydrazine in the feed. Regular health checks and prompt treatment are essential to maintain a healthy rabbit population.

By following these steps, you can significantly improve the health, productivity, and survival rate of your rabbits during the autumn and winter seasons. It's important to stay proactive and adjust management practices based on environmental conditions and the specific needs of your herd.
