The stems have dentate ribs and are covered with very short, fine hairs. The buds are shaped like small airbags, and 1 to 3 flowers emerge from the base of the tender stem. Each flower opens widely in a star-like shape, measuring about 15 cm in diameter. The color is yellowish, with dark purple stripes running through the petals, along with delicate silk-like hairs. The flowering period occurs during summer and autumn, making it a striking addition to any collection.

Distribution: Native to South Africa, this unique plant is known for its distinctive, star-shaped flowers that resemble a starfish. It is commonly cultivated as an ornamental plant due to its unusual appearance and low maintenance requirements.

Conservation: *Stapelia grandiflora* thrives in warm, dry, and sunny conditions. It is drought-tolerant and can tolerate partial shade, but it does not withstand cold temperatures.
