According to reports, traditional acoustic stethoscopes work by collecting and amplifying vibration signals from different detection sites. When the ambient noise reaches 80 decibels, the stethoscope is difficult to use normally, and 80 decibels is equivalent to the volume of sound produced by an alarm clock or a noisy city street. If the noise reaches 90 decibels, basically nothing can be heard with this stethoscope. Later, the electronic stethoscope replaced the headphones with an in-line loudspeaker, and the material of the stethoscope tube was more resistant to noise, thereby increasing the tolerable noise level to 90 decibels to 95 decibels.
Adrian Huzma, head of research and development, said that the ultrasound stethoscope first transmits a sound signal with a frequency of 2.3 MHz to the patient during use. Under the influence of the human body's internal organs, the signal frequency reflected back to the stethoscope will occur. A slight change can be used to measure the activity of the heart, lungs and other internal organs by the frequency change of the two sound waves. The new sensor converts this frequency change into an audible sound signal that the human ear can hear for auscultation.
