How do you use a detoxifier?

When using a detoxification agent for cottonseed hulls and rapeseed cake, there are several key factors to consider in order to achieve optimal results. First, the temperature should be maintained above 15–20°C, as slower fermentation at lower temperatures can lead to better detoxification and preservation of nutrients. It's important to prepare the raw materials properly—cottonseed hulls and rapeseed cakes should be chopped or crushed to increase surface area and improve microbial access. However, protein-rich feeds like rapeseed cake and cottonseed cake should not be fermented alone. Instead, they should be combined with energy sources such as corn flour to create a balanced mix that supports efficient fermentation. The detoxification agent should be used in a ratio of 2 parts detoxifier per batch of cottonseed hulls and rapeseed cake. To ensure even distribution, it's recommended to dilute the agent with rice bran, corn flour, or wheat flour before mixing it into the feed. Any spoiled or moldy materials must be removed before starting the process to avoid contamination and ensure safety. Moisture control is another critical factor. The ideal moisture level should be between 65% and 75%. A simple way to check this is by grabbing a handful of the material—if it forms a clump but doesn’t drip water, and spreads out when released, it’s just right. Too much moisture can lead to poor heating, while too little can slow down the fermentation process. Once the mixture is ready, it should be completely sealed in airtight containers to promote anaerobic conditions. If using plastic bags, make sure they are tightly sealed and placed inside a larger container for extra protection. During the fermentation period, avoid opening the container unless necessary. After fermentation is complete, the product should be sealed immediately after each feeding to prevent spoilage. The finished product can be stored in small sealed bags, dried using air drying or low-temperature methods, or processed into granules for easier handling. When feeding, gradually introduce the fermented material into the pigs' or chickens’ diet, starting at about 40–50% of their total feed intake. This helps animals adapt and maximizes the benefits of the detoxified feed.
