Eat more alkaline food IQ is expected to increase

British researchers have discovered a potential link between the pH level of brain fluids and IQ. According to their findings, within the normal range of body fluid acidity, lower IQ is associated with more acidic conditions, while higher IQ corresponds with a more alkaline environment. This concept mirrors what happens during physical fatigue, when substances like lactic acid and urea accumulate, causing an increase in body fluid acidity. In a study involving 42 boys aged 6 to 13, scientists observed that those with a pH level above 7 had significantly higher IQ scores compared to those with a pH below 7—twice as high, in fact. This groundbreaking research marks the first time that intelligence has been directly connected to the pH of brain fluids. Researchers refer to this as the "chemical fingerprint" of intelligence. Since the pH balance of body fluids can be influenced by diet, scientists suggest adjusting eating habits to promote a more alkaline environment. Foods are typically categorized into three groups based on their elemental composition: alkaline, neutral, and acidic. Alkaline foods include fruits, vegetables, soy products, seaweed, and alkaline drinks, which are rich in minerals like potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium. On the other hand, acidic foods such as meat, grains, oils, and alcohol contain elements like phosphorus, chlorine, sulfur, and iodine. Interestingly, not all sour-tasting foods are acidic. For example, oranges are considered alkaline despite their tart flavor because they are high in potassium. This highlights the importance of understanding the actual mineral content of foods rather than relying solely on taste. To support cognitive development, especially in children, scientists recommend reducing the consumption of meat, fish, oily foods, and sweets, while increasing intake of soy products, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and seafood. These dietary adjustments may help create a more favorable internal environment for brain function and overall intelligence. By making smarter food choices, individuals can potentially enhance their mental performance and support long-term cognitive health.
